The Gazette recently covered U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern’s farm tour of the area. I am thankful that we have a congressional representative so deeply tied to his constituency. Though Rep. McGovern may be from Worcester, his presence in western Massachusetts is completely familiar by this point. In addition to the farm tours, he’s an annual participant’s in Monte Belmonte’s “Monty’s March.” He’s been at the Amherst Survival Center. He is a representative who understands the importance of being part of the community he represents. This cannot be easy, considering the geographic size of his district, not to mention his crusading work on Capitol Hill. But Rep. McGovern does it. He is an active presence in our community, and it does not go unnoticed nor unappreciated. Thank you, Rep. McGovern, for being a physical part of your constituency.
