Amherst, MA – Doug Colligan, 82, died at home under the care of the Fisher Hospice angels in Amherst, MA on August 17, 2026. He leaves to mourn him his wife, Louise, daughter Deirdre, granddaughter Daphne, his six sisters, Bonna Cassarino, Lynn Fehrenbach, Faye Ewen, Judy Colligan, Carol Clapp, and Peggy Dobles as well many fantastic nieces, nephews, in-laws, wonderful friends, and neighbors.
If he could have, he would have wanted everyone to celebrate his life at the Black Sheep where he wrote much of his book or at Carr’s Cider Garden in Hadley where he and Louise picnicked on many Friday afternoons in summertime.
His ashes will be buried in late September in the family plot in Torrington, Connecticut where he was born and not sprinkled in the bluebird meadow near the bike path where he used to run, then walked, on late afternoons.
