Carol McCarthy

Easthampton, MA – Carol A. (Latka) McCarthy, 81 passed away on August 23, 2026, at Cooley Dickinson Hospital following a short illness.

Born to the late Genevieve and Charles Latka, Carol spent her entire life on Ward Avenue-the place where she grew up, made a home with her late husband, Ronald, and raised their two sons.

She was a loving mother to Stephen and his wife Shannon, and Scott and his wife Jennifer. Her granddaughters, McKenzie and Madison, held an especially treasured place in her heart. Being their “Babci” brought her immeasurable joy.

Carol also leaves behind her sister in law, Dolores McCarthy-Michon, Jim and Shirely Orwat who held a special place in her heart, several beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

Carol loved bringing everyone together for big gatherings and could often be found in the kitchen preparing polish dishes and desserts. In the summer Carol enjoyed spending time at the beach, especially Clinton CT.

Carol graduated from Easthampton High School in 1963. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Church for many years prior to its closing. Carol retired from the VA Hospital pharmacy in Leeds, MA, after 21 years of service in 2011.

A graveside memorial will be held on October 17, 2026, beginning at 12:00 p.m. at St. Stanislaus in Easthampton.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Carol’s memory to a local youth sports organization
