The International Volleyball Hall of Fame in Holyoke announced this year’s induction weekend will take place on Oct. 16-17. The IVHF will induct 10 members in its Class of 2026.

This year, the IVHF will honor Dr. Ary Graça, April Ross, Alison Cerutti, Fabiana Alvim, Ekaterina Gamova, Yoel Despaigne, Laurent Tillie, Takashi Shimoyama, Denis Le Breuilly as well as four Special Award recipiants.

The dinner and ceremony will be held at the Wyckoff Country Club. Tickets and more information can be found on the IVHF’s website.

Amherst Country Club

Amherst Country Club held its annual Women’s 9 Hole Over 50 Net Championship this past weekend.

Cathey Nelson won with a net score of 27, beating out runner-up Lora Gross (32) by five strokes.

It was a close race for second place as Donna McKemmie (33), Valier Foster (34), Mary Godfrey (35), and Martha Bell (35) were all within striking distance.

UMass athletes take home weekly honors

Several UMass athletes received weekly recognition in their respective sports on Tuesday.

Men’s soccer goalie Dean Linden received the Summit League Defensive Player of the Week after posting a shutout against UMass Lowell.

Lara Mannes Diaz de Cerio took home MAC’s Cross Country Runner of the Week after she won the UMass Ken O’Brien Minutemen Invitational. She ran 13:46.8 as the Minutewomen took home first place.

For the second straight week, Monica Curry earned the MAC Offensive Player of the Week in women’s soccer. She scored two goals in a 4-1 win over UMass Lowell.

Emily Barrett also won the conference’s Offensive Player of the Week award for field hockey after recording three goals and an assist across two wins for UMass.
