HOLYOKE — Police are searching for two suspects who fled a traffic stop in Hadley before crashing their car and taking off on-foot in Holyoke Tuesday evening.
State Troopers from the Northampton Barracks assisted Hadley Police in an attempt to pull over an Acura sedan with an allegedly fradulent license plate at around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to an email sent to the Gazette by State Trooper Brandon Doherty.
The vehicle, Doherty wrote, failed to stop and traveled onto Interstate 91 southbound, where it exited the highway on the Exit 15 ramp in Hokyoke.
“The vehicle then exited the highway at Exit 15 and subsequently crashed. The two occupants of the vehicle then reportedly fled on foot into nearby woods,” Doherty wrote at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday. “The State Police K9 Unit responded to assist in the search for the suspects who were not found.”
The incident remains under investigation, Doherty wrote.
