  • The Northampton property committee is weighing two offers for the former Northampton Armory on King Street and will vote on them at a special meeting Monday night. Two city businessmen, Carlo Valone and Robert LaSalle, have offered to purchase the turn-of-the-century building for an undisclosed amount and turn it into a European-style market, delicatessen, bakery and restaurant.
  • The Jackson Street School PTO will sponsor a forum on Tuesday to answer questions about the school’s merger in January with the Vernon Street and William H. Feiker schools. Supt. John M. Buteau, Leonard A. Alberts, who is chairman of the building committee, City Councilor Mario L. Mazza, and Principal Dennis T. McKenna Jr. will participate in the session.

  • Brian Harrington, who served on the Board of Public Works for four years, is stepping down from his post because he took a new job that would present a conflict of interest. Harrington, who was an attorney in private practice in Springfield, stated a job with the Department of Environmental Protection Sept. 10.
  • About 40 adults and skateboard-clutching youths crowded around a conference table at the Northampton Recreation Department Monday night, hoping to revive a five-year-old plan for a city skateboard park. Some said they had high hopes, encouraged by what they’d seen the day before at the Greenfield Area Skate Park, a 180,000-square-foot facility with ramps and jumps that officially opened Sunday.

  • Jane Howard and Karl Sabo, longtime innkeepers of the Deerfield Inn, will resign their positions effective Oct. 16. Now in their 30th year at the Deerfield Inn, the couple will move on to work as consultants for a European hotel group in Spain.
  • Green Miles Lipton LLP announces that attorney Levi Roman has joined the firm as an associate. He was previously in private practice in Waltham. Originally from Shelburne Falls, Roman graduated from Antioch College with a bachelor’s degree in political science and then received a law degree from New England Law Boston.
