EASTHAMPTON — A large sink hole that formed in the middle of Ferry Street Thursday afternoon closed a section of the roadway, spanning from Pleasant Street to Emerald Place.

Easthampton Police posted on Facebook about the closure just after 4 p.m. Thursday. The post says crews are on the scene working, asking residents to avoid the area if possible. An update will be made once the road is reopened, the post says.

The Department of Public Works could not be reached for comment Thursday afternoon.
