ELEANOR BURDIN (Dee Weber)

Florence, MA – Dee is survived by her aunt Eleanor Wright of The Villages, FL, sister Ruth Weber and her husband David Heyrend of St. Augustine, FL, beloved Texas cousins, cherished nieces and nephews, and amazing friends Colleen and David Beaudin.

She was predeceased by parents Frances and George Weber, and sister Jean Weber.

A Bates College graduate, Dee went on to earn a Master’s degree in sociology from U Mass; she once said she would have received her PhD had she not played so much bridge, the only bad influence from her parents. While conducting research at U Mass’ Sociological & Demographic Research Institute, she co-authored many publications on a wide range of issues, including health care, natural disaster relief, and sexual harassment on college campuses. She dedicated over 40 years to the university, notable serving as SADRI’s Director of Software Development and Database Management.

Dee moved on to Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) almost from its inception until her retirement in 2017. They still say that her fingerprints are all over the organization.

Dee had not a shred of vanity, and her modest nature could sometimes hide her brilliance. She rarely complained, often bossed, liked to gamble, loved the beach, ice cream, as well as all of her cats. She died peacefully at the Florence, MA home she owned for 40+ years.
