Walk On Scholarship
John Condakes, a tight end for the UMass football team, was announced as one of the five recepients of the 2026 BE Resilient Walk On Scholarship as part of the Baker and Emily Mayfield Foundation.
Winners received a $10,000 scholarship.
“Every one of this year’s recipients represents exactly what this scholarship was created to honor,” Baker Mayfield said in a media release. “They have each had their own obstacles to overcome to get where they are today, and they never let those challenges stop them from reaching their goals. Emily and I are proud to support their continued growth as students and athletes.”
Mayfield, the current starting quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was the first walk-on to start a game for an FBS program with Texas Tech in 2013.
