I was heartened to read Lillian Cartwright’s October guest column about Varian Fry [“Varian Fry: Courage personified“]. I appreciate her spreading the news about Connecticut’s recent recognition of his birthday. I’ve read just about everything written of and by him and the Emergency Rescue Committee, which continues its work today as the International Rescue Committee, rescue.org. I’ve also given community talks and interviews about him. There is a lot of information online. We need our heroes. They’re still out there! Thank you!
