NORTHAMPTON — Two teenagers pleaded not guilty Tuesday to attempting to hold up a pizza delivery man with a BB gun outside an Amherst housing project Dec. 3.

Co-defendants Tyson J. Burnett, 18, and Terrel K. Phok, 19, both of Amherst, were arraigned in Hampshire Superior Court after a grand jury indicted them March 8 on charges of armed assault with intent to rob and conspiracy, according to court documents.

A third person was also accused in the attempted robbery, but because that person is a juvenile, the records are sealed by the court.

The two men are accused of assaulting a pizza delivery man with a BB gun and attempting to rob him, with Phok brandishing the BB gun, according to court documents.

Burnett and Phok were released on personal recognizance on the conditions that they abide by an 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. curfew, have no contact with one another or the alleged victim, report to probation once a week, live with their respective parents, abstain from alcohol and drugs and submit to random screenings, according to court documents.

Daniel Kelly, of Springfield, represents Phok, and David Hoose, of Northampton, represents Burnett.
