■Horses dominated action at Northampton’s Three County Fair Thursday, with pari-mutuel horse racing and horse drawing contests the featured events. A total of 6,682 patrons paid admission at the gates yesterday, 800 fewer than recorded for the same day last year.
■Robert F. Czelusniak today announced his candidacy for reelection to the office of Hampshire County Register of Deeds. Czelusniak stated that it was his campaign promise six years ago, “to run the Registry office as though it were his own business.”
■The Three-County Fair will feature a new event today — a parade of oxen, accompanied by a Civil War-era fife and drum display. Today, the ninth and last day of the fair, is being billed as “kid’s day.”
■The School of Nursing at the University of Massachusetts is embarking on a unique collaboration with a public school this fall. Bankrolled by a $1.2 million federal grant, the nursing school has hooked up with Springfield’s Putnam Vocational High School and Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, to open a comprehensive health clinic for Putnam students.
