Hampshire College says a funeral will be held Wednesday in California for one of its students.

In a letter to the campus, President Jonathan Lash said that Chandler Landow, a student on a field study project in the spring semester, died.

Lash did not provide details about the circumstances of the death, which occurred in Northampton. Landow’s passing is considered an unattended death, according to the Northwestern district attorney’s office.

Lash said Landow was scheduled to return to college in the fall to complete his final project.

“We will honor Chandler’s memory in the fall, when we are together again as a community,” Lash said in his letter to faculty, staff and students.

Services were scheduled  at noon Wednesday at El Camino Memorial Cemetery at 5600 Carroll Canyon Road in San Diego, Lash’s letter said.
