SOUTH DEERFIELD — Town police and fire and South County EMS rescue workers were called around 2 p.m. Thursday after a Hyundai crashed into the back of a Toyota pickup truck.

Both drivers climbed out of the vehicles on their own, walked away from the accident and refused to go the hospital. No injuries were reported.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Sugarloaf Street and Route 116, at the base of Mount Sugarloaf.

“The Toyota was stopped at a red light, and the Hyundai rear-ended him. Both (people) were checked at the scene,” said Deerfield Police Officer Brian Ravish.

The Hyundai was taken away on a flatbed truck, and Ravish said all of the car’s airbags deployed.

There was minimal damage to the truck, which was driven away from the accident.

The Fire Department finished cleaning the road about 2:30 p.m., and police did not have to close Route 116.
