Former Smith College basketball standout Devon Quattrocchi has been named the head women’s basketball coach at Colby-Sawyer on Tuesday.
“I want to thank (athletic director) Bill Foti and the hiring committee,” Quattrocchi said in a statement. “I am thrilled for the opportunity to join the Colby-Sawyer College community as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach. George Martin has established a deep and rich history of success and I am excited to build on what he has developed and fostered. I look forward to forming a relationship with the current student-athletes and embarking on our journey together.”
Quattrocchi is the fifth coach in the Chargers’ 40-year history. Martin led the New London, New Hampshire, program for the past 26 seasons.
“Devon is a welcome addition to our coaching staff,” Foti said. “She’s demonstrated all of the skills, particularly in recruiting, to be a successful head coach. … I’m confident Devon is the right choice to continue that tradition of excellence.”
At Smith, Quattrocchi guided the Pioneers to 77 wins, an Eastern College Athletic Conference championship and an appearance in the 2013 NCAA Tournament second round during her senior year.
Quattrocchi was a New England Women’s Basketball Association First-Team All-Region selection and a First Team All-New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference selection. After graduation, she played professionally for a year in Denmark for the Vaerlose Basketball Klub, before returning to Smith as a graduate assistant coach from 2015-2018.
Quattrocchi heads to Colby-Sawyer after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at The College of New Jersey.
