HOLYOKE — Holyoke police are looking for a city man who allegedly shot somebody in the abdomen early Saturday before fleeing.

In a statement, Holyoke police Capt. Matthew Moriarty said that Wilfredo Dejesus, 45, has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting another man at 3 a.m. near Elting Circle in the Jarvis Avenue neighborhood of the city.

“The victim, still conscious, had a gunshot wound to his abdomen area,” Moriarty wrote. “The suspected gunman, Wilfredo Dejesus, had fled the scene … The victim was transported to a local hospital and was last reported to be in stable condition.”

In addition to attempted murder, Moriarty said that Dejesus has been charged with possession of both a firearm and ammunition without a federal identification card.

“Dejesus should be considered armed and dangerous,” Moriarty wrote. “Anyone with information of his whereabouts should contact the Holyoke Police immediately.”
