■A spirited basketball game between the Cooley Dickinson Hospital student nurses and doctors will be held Wednesday in the Northampton High School gymnasium. Proceeds from the event will be used for Student Organization activities.

■Mayor Sean M. Dunphy, City Councilors Robert Patenaude, Joseph Bonneau, Harry McColgan, Eugene Arnold and City Solicitor Thomas M. Growhoski attended the Ninth Annual Conference, Massachusetts League of Cities and Towns in Auburn Friday. The all-day conference opened with a presentation entitled “Cities and ‘Towns in the ’70s and the Challenges That Must Be Met.”

■At a public forum last night in Williamsburg, the Graves Farms Buildings Task Force recommended that the Massachusetts Audubon Society sell the Graves Farm buildings along with three to five surrounding acres to a private of not-for-profit institution. The recommendation came after months of deliberation by the task force.

■If casino gambling becomes legal in Massachusetts, Attorney General Scott Harshbarger, speaking in Northampton yesterday, said he wants to make sure the state has the toughest regulations in place first. What he would prefer, though, is that the state reject casino gambling altogether.

■Sherry Webb, the Smith Academy field hockey coach who is well known for pacing the sidelines during her games while shouting encouragement to her players, took the final leg of a 37-year walk on Saturday. Webb announced her retirement from coaching earlier in the season.

■Isabelina Rodriguez, superintendent of the Northampton School District, has been selected as the new schools chief in Granby. Rodriguez will replace Patricia Stevens, who is retiring in February after more than eight years as superintendent of the Granby schools.
