Candidate Sanders would restore true majority rule

In his March 12 column, Vijay Prashad of Northampton quotes Sen. Tom Harkin in 1992: “the U.S. protects ‘everything that deals with capital and property but we cannot deal with protecting basic human rights.’”

This quote perfectly describes everybody running for the presidency of the United States this year except Bernie Sanders.

No one but Sanders has endorsed the $15 minimum wage, or endorsed re-instituting the Glass-Steagall law to toilet train Wall Street, or endorsed free admission for all to public colleges and universities.

Sanders’ 40-year record of representing the people of Vermont shows a life spent working in the interests of the average Vermont resident.

In the race for the White House, Sanders alone has refused contributions from the fat cats whom have nearly destroyed the exercise of democracy in the United States’ elections for president, the Senate and the House of Representatives. Sanders might well represent close to our last hope as a nation to establish a federal government by and for the people.

Democrats, Republicans, and Independents should unite in enthusiastically supporting Sanders. He is the only candidate in this presidential election dedicated to finally establishing true majority rule in our country.
