Bad news for Bi-County West softball teams. Rachel Robinson is going to be around for a while.
The Easthampton freshman softball pitcher added a second no-hitter to her collection, as she struck out 13 in the mercy-rule shortened six-inning 11-0 win over Gateway Regional at home.
She walked one and worked around one error behind her.
Charlotte Bennigan had two hits, two runs and four RBIs, while Sophie Deblase had three hits, two runs and two RBIs for the Eagles (9-1, 6-0).
Gateway fell to 1-13 (0-8).
Hampshire Regional 1, Chicopee Comp 0 — After not starting in a year, Danielle McGan returned to the circle for the Raiders and tossed a one-hitter in Westhampton.
McGan usually plays third but pitched due to Alana Mohan’s sore elbow.
McGan lost the no-hitter in the seventh inning and struck out 11 with two walks.
Whether McGan moves back to third or stays in the circle is up for debate.
“Right now we are not sure,” Hampshire coach Brian McGan said. “She did light up some eyes. That was a top-notch performance.”
Katy O’Connor tripled for the Raiders, and Brie Bergeron had the lone RBI.
Northampton 17, Amherst Regional 12 — The Blue Devils led 10-0 after two and hung on in a wild rivalry game that featured 29 runs, 18 errors, 16 walks and 31 runners left on base.
Jill McGrath led Hamp with two hits, including a three-run homer in the third, and five RBIs. Emelia Pelis added two hits, a run and an RBI.
Megan Rice had a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored for Amherst, while Egeria Koehn-Cooper (two runs) and Jennifer Hodgkins (run, RBI) each added three hits.
Smith Academy 13, Pope Francis 3 — Vanessa Skawski had two hits and three RBIs in a home win for the Falcons.
Skawski pitched a complete game and seven strikeouts.
Emma Hobert had three RBIs and a triple.
Agawam 14, Belchertown 0 — Lauren LeBlanc was on base twice for the Orioles (2-12) with a hit and a walk.
Southwick 9, Granby 4 — Emily Sawyer, Lindsey Wenzel and Mallory Beauregard each had a hit and an RBI, but the Rams (5-7) lost at home.
Pioneer Regional 10, Hopkins Academy 2 — Gabby Palmisano had two hits and two RBIs in a road loss for the Golden Hawks.
Macy Ring and Allison Markowski each added three hits for Hopkins (3-9).
Turners Falls 4, Frontier Regional 1 — The Red Hawks (4-7) watched an early lead slip away in a road loss to the Indians.
McKenzie Patterson had two doubles for Frontier.
South Hadley 6, Holyoke 2 — Mikhaila Edge smashed a three-run homer in the fifth inning to clinch the Tigers’ first win of the season.
Abby Edge had three hits and scored two runs, while Nicole Niemiec struck out three and didn’t allow a walk to pick up the win.
