Malia MacDonald took a ball home from her lacrosse game Wednesday night.
After completing a hat trick for the Amherst Regional girls lacrosse team in a 9-3 win over Chicopee Comp, MacDonald reached 100 goals for her career.
MacDonald took over a more prominent offensive role for Amherst this season and has 33 goals.
“I think she has been doing a great job at quarterbacking the attack,” Amherst coach Kelly Ziomek said. “She’s helped mentor the younger kids.”
MacDonald wrote the date with the number 100 on the ball, and will place it in her room.
“It was my goal for the season,” MacDonald said of the milestone. “I never thought I could do this, but after middle school I started scoring more.”
The milestone came when a second defender came toward MacDonald and she let the shot go from the 8-meter arc.
