Hampshire County is under a tornado watch until 9 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The area is also under a hazardous weather outlook, which cautions that scattered severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening, roughly between 2 and 9 p.m. Franklin and Hampden counties are also under a tornado watch.

Meteorologist Alan Dunham said Tuesday morning the primary worry with the storm system is strong, straight-line wind gusts causing damage.
