South Hadley started its defense of the Pioneer Valley Summer Soccer League girls B Division title in dominant fashion.

Maddie Doolittle scored twice, as the Tigers bested Palmer 6-0 on Tuesday at home.

Olivia Blaney, Teagan Gawron, Sydney Mercier and Elyse Manxi also found the net. Allie Smith stopped two shots to keep a clean sheet.

South Hadley, the No. 2 seed, will face either Agawam B or Ludlow Ideal C on Thursday at home. All championship games are Saturday at Lusitano Field in Ludlow.

East Long South 4, Hampshire 1 โ€” Katie Taylor made four saves in a B Divisision quarterfinal loss.

Jocelyn Salomao scored for Hampshire with an assist by Kayla Lukasiewicz.

Boys soccer

Frontier 3, Sabis 3 (OT) โ€” Noah Jacques headed in a winner seven minutes into overtime, and the Red Hawks advanced to the semifinals of the PVSSL B Division playoffs.

Frontier trailed 2-1 in the second half after two unanswered Sabis goals. Ari Venegas tapped the ball in for the tying goal colliding with the goalie. He left the game with an injury afterward.

Connor Bagdon initially put Frontier up 1-0 in the first half with a top-right corner shot.

Ben Morse helped control the midfield with Bagdon, and Peter Bronke stood tall in goal.

No. 4 Frontier will play either No. 1 Central or No. 8 Pope Francis at 6 p.m. Thursday in the semifinals.

Easthampton 5, Palmer 1 โ€” Tyler Karakula netted a hat trick, and Easthampton reached the B Division Semifinals.

The Eagles will travel to No. 2 Chicopee Comp at 6 p.m. Thursday. The teams tied in overall points and head to head during the regular season, but Comp won the pre-playoff coin flip for the higher seed.

Tyler Mason and Luke Halsley also found the net.

Softball

Southampton 16, Frontier Red 6 โ€” Emma Czarniecki went 5-for-5 with two RBIs.

Hailey Wodecky doubled twice and hit a triple with three RBIs.

Hannah Wodecki, Theresa Saltis, Margot Laplante and McKenzie McCarthy each had 2 hits.

Bailey McCoy picked up the win after striking out five over four innings. Avery Brooke struck out five in three innings.

Areale Joyce had two hits for Frontier Red, and Emma Paulin drove in a run.
