Zayd Sadiq scored a career-high 36 points, as the Amherst Regional boys basketball team outlasted Pope Francis, 62-60, in overtime Monday.

The Hurricanes (4-5, 1-0 Valley) led 38-33 after three quarters before the Cardinals rallied to tie the game in Springfield.

Tabor Bowman added eight points for Amherst, while Shane Robles (two 3-pointers) and Evan Stewart had six points each.

South Hadley 71, Renaissance 68 — Hunter Carey hit two 3s and scored 23 points, as the Tigers (9-3) moved within a game of qualifying for the postseason.

Dylan Cottingham added three 3s and 17 points. Brady Marion scored 10.

South Hadley hosts Southwick at 7 p.m. Friday.

Wahconah Regional 65, Frontier Regional 53 — Peter Carey scored 17 points, as the Red Hawks fell at home. Owen Walkowicz had nine, while Ethan Machon and Donovan Hoffman each added seven points for Frontier Regional (7-3).

Easthampton 71, Southwick 47 — Mike Brown compiled a career-high 19 points, as the Eagles hit nine 3s in a home win.

Owen Morse scored 14 points, and Gabe Colenback added 13 points for Easthampton (2-10).

Granby 75, Hampshire Regional 55 — Nate Breault made six 3s and scored 24 points to lead the Rams at home.

Granby (6-3) hit 12 triples.

Brandon Wishart added four 4s and 22 points, while Steven Torres Jr. had 13 points.

Justin Forest led the Raiders (5-5) with 29 points. Dominic Lewinski added 12 points.

Girls basketball

Gateway Regional 36, Westfield Tech 36 — Peyton Bucko scored 11 points, as the Gators won at home. Grace Van Buren made six free throws and added eight points, while Donna Viel had seven points for Gateway Regional (5-5, 3-1 Tri-County South).

Hockey

Wahconah 2, South Hadley 1 — Matt Brunelle tied the game for the Tigers in the second period, but the Warriors found a winner in the third.

Joe Meon had the assist for South Hadley (6-3-1, 3-2 Fay).

Anthony Cigal made 19 saves.

Greenfield 5, Chicopee 0 — Sammy Knight compiled two goals and an assist in a road win.

Jacob Bryant added two assists, while Bryan Baumann and Sean O’Sullivan each had a goal and an assist.

Mike McGoldrick and Derek Lenois each distributed an assist for the Green Wave (8-2), and Kyle Barnes found the net once.
