NORTHAMPTON – The next few days will be clear and hot in the Pioneer Valley.

Tuesday will have sunny skies and a high of 89 degrees with minimal wind during the day, and a clear evening with a low of 63 degrees according to the National Weather Service.

The middle of the week will be more of the same — hot and dry, said Bill Simpson of the National Weather Service.

“Things should be pretty similar for the next few days — low nineties but the humidity won’t be quite as bad as it’s been lately,” Simpson said.

Wednesday will be sunny with a high near 92 degrees and some light and variable wind, and Wednesday evening will be clear with a low around 64 degrees.

Much of Massachusetts, including Eastern Hampshire and Hampden counties, is under an alert for elevated fire conditions due to the high heat, low humidity and potential for wind, according to the National Weather Service. This alert should extend through today and Wednesday.

An air quality alert has been issued for the same region by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, warning that “ground level ozone concentrations may approach or exceed unhealthy standards” until 11 p.m.
