A vehicle drove into a support post at the R&P Package Store, 505 West St., when the driver forgot to put it in reverse at 7:06 p.m. Wednesday. Damage to the building was minor and the vehicle was driven from the scene.
Joshua Ting MacDonald, 24, of 50 Gulf Road, Pelham, was arrested on a warrant at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday on Cottage Street.
Jason John Andras, 35, of 599 S. East St. in Amherst, was arrested on a warrant at 11:57 a.m. Wednesday on Main Street.
Hester Anne Davis, 30, of 30 Chestnut St. in Amherst, was arrested at Wal-Mart, 180 North King St., at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday on charges of shoplifting by concealing merchandise and possession of a Class B drug (methamphetamine).
Davis allegedly stole a pack of Bondex nylon patches used to repair tents, a toenail painting kit and elastic bands. Police allegedly found a vial in Davis’ purse containing a crystalline substance which tested positive for amphetamines.
Leslie E. Nelson, 53, 35 Fruit St., Apt. A-24, was arrested at 2:23 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of aggravated assault and battery after police responded to Cahill Apartments, where she lives, and found her engaged in a fight on the ground with a pregnant woman. Police said Nelson punched the other woman in the face and was tussling on the ground with her until authorities broke up the fight.
Sydena Bond, 53, 43 West St., was arrested on charges of trespassing and disturbing the peace 10:51 a.m. Monday when Hampshire County sheriff’s deputies served her with an eviction notice. Deputies said she became irate and refused to leave the residence.
Melinda J. Maziarz, 53, of Hadley, was arrested at about 7:54 a.m. Monday near Hotel Northampton, 36 King St., following a traffic stop because there was no inspection sticker on her vehicle. Police said she was charged with failure to wear a seat belt, not having an inspection sticker and driving on a suspended or revoked license.
