The offenses came to play Saturday morning in Belchertown.

South Hadley and Belchertown combined for 20 hits and 24 runs, but it was the visiting Tigers that left town with a 13-11 victory in Suburban League softball action.

A six-run top of the fourth inning gave the Tigers an 8-2 lead, but Belchertown used a five-run fifth and a three-run third to get within 11-10. South Hadley tacked on two key insurance runs in the top of the seventh and held on.

Kelly Vey did the big damage for the Tigers (2-9), as she was 3-for-4 with two doubles, five RBIs and two runs scored. Jenna Bobrowski and Molly Goshea had two hits apiece, with Goshea driving in three runs.

South Hadley pitcher Jae Velazquez struck out seven in a complete-game effort.

Belchertown (4-7) received three hits, three runs and an RBI from Laura Cote. Aidenn Rose and Olivia Plate had two hits apiece and combined to drive in three runs. Olivia Lafayette struck out three in the circle for the Orioles.

Hampshire 5, Agawam 3 – Locked in a 1-1 tie through five innings, the Raiders scored four runs in the top of the sixth and secured an impressive 5-3 victory over Agawam on Saturday.

Joss Mettey was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Hampshire (12-0), while Ashley Cortis was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Hannah Wodecki smacked two doubles in the win.

Mettey struck out five in seven innings, walking just one.

Franklin Tech 8, Smith Academy 6 – The Falcons scored five times in the top of the third inning to take a 5-4 lead, but the Eagles answered with four in the home half of the frame and held on for an 8-6 independent victory in Turners Falls on Saturday morning.

Boys lacrosse

Agawam 9, Belchertown 6 – Despite two goals apiece from Koy Monette and Owen Sedlacek, the Orioles dropped a 9-6 decision to the Brownies in action Saturday.

Nico St. George and Dan Chrzanowski also tallied for Belchertown. Sedlacek dished out two assists while helpers were also recorded by Shea Cunningham and Griffin Weiss. Matt Pacheco made four saves.

Baseball

Hopkins 8, Smith Academy 4 – In the completion of a game that was postponed due to heat last month, the Hawks sealed the deal with an 8-4 victory over the Falcons on Friday.

Hopkins’ Kouji Ishida was 4-for-4 with a triple, two doubles and two RBIs to set the table. Braeden Tudryn tripled and drove in a run, while Patrick Fitzgibbons and Cody West each had two hits and drove in a run. Fitzgibbons, who earned the win on the mound, combined with Andrew Ciaglo for seven strikeouts.

Smith’s Michael Bassett and Logan Graves registered two hits apiece, while Nate Moynihan and James Lavallee added a hit and an RBI apiece.
