The 19th-ranked UMass women’s lacrosse team pitched a second-half shutout en route to an 18-3 win over VCU in Richmond, Virginia, Sunday.

The win secured the Minutewomen the No. 1 seed in the Atlantic 10 Tournament.

UMass (15-1, 8-0 A-10) extended its conference winning streak to 44 games, an NCAA record. The Minutewomen, who have won 11 straight this season, close the regular season with Davidson, at 11 a.m. Saturday at Garber Field.

Sophomore Holly Turner (two goals, four assists) had a game-high six points to lead eight scorers for UMass.

Smith College 11, Coast Guard 4 — Katie Christensen scored a game-high three goals in the road win on Saturday for the Pioneers (5-10, 1-6 NEWMAC).

Emily Biggs (Florence) had two goals for Smith.

Amherst College 10, Williams 9 (OT) — Mia Haughton (three goals) won it for Amherst (11-2, 7-2 NESCAC) just over a minute into overtime Saturday in Williamstown.

Wellesley 12, Mount Holyoke 11 (OT) — Leila Kouakou (Leeds) had three goals, while Catherine Ryan added three goals and three assists but the Lyons (2-11, 1-6 NEWMAC) fell Saturday.

Baseball

UMass 8, La Salle 3; La Salle 5, UMass 3; UMass 8, La Salle 2 — The Minutemen (11-18, 4-8) jumped ahead of the Explorers (11-30, 3-9) in the Atlantic 10 standings after their weekend series.

John Jennings (5 for 11, six runs, two RBIs, solo home run) led UMass.

Amherst 8, Middlebury 7; Middlebury 6, Amherst 5 — David Cunningham went 4 for 6 with three RBIs and a solo home run for visiting AC (19-8, 6-3 NESCAC) on Saturday.

Softball

UMass 2, George Washington 0; UMass 9, George Washington 1 (5); UMass 4, George Washington 2 — Meg Colleran struck out 13 and tossed two complete games, allowing only two earned runs on 10 hits in 14 innings for the Minutewomen (19-21, 11-5 A-10).

Taylor Carbone went 5 for 10 with three runs and three RBIs, while Tara Klee had two homers in the weekend road series.

Amherst 7, Williams 6; Williams 7, Amherst 3; Williams 6, Amherst 3 — Sammy Salustri finished with five RBIs on three hits but AC (19-8, 5-3 NESCAC) dropped the weekend series in Williamstown.

Smith 7, Coast Guard 4; Smith 10, Coast Guard 2 — Tori Brown (4 for 7, five RBIs) launched a home run for the Pioneers in each game of Saturday’s doubleheader sweep.

Smith 8, Wheaton 6; Wheaton 8, Smith 1 — Allison Snyder (3 for 7, RBI) set school records for career home runs (15) and home runs in a season (eight) during game two of Sunday’s doubleheader for the Pioneers (12-18, 9-8 NEWMAC).

Men’s lacrosse

Amherst 11, Williams 8 — Quinn Moroney had a goal and three assists, while Charlie Gill, Kane Haffey and Andrew Ford each had two goals as AC (11-3, 7-2 NESCAC) won its third straight Little III title, Saturday in Amherst.

Men’s tennis

Middlebury 7, Amherst 2 — Aaron Revzin picked up a win at fourth singles and teamed with Michael Solimano to win first doubles for AC (14-7, 3-4 NESCAC) Saturday.

Women’s track

Springfield College Classic — Zoe Rubinstein finished second in the pole vault (12 feet) to help the Pioneers finish ninth overall on Saturday.

Trinity’s Caroline Sullivan (South Hadley) was third in the 1,500 (4:53.53).

Larry Ellis Invitational — UMass’ Emily Cowan placed fifth in the 400 (54.97 seconds) at Princeton University Saturday.

Aloha Relays — Mount Holyoke finished seventh on Saturday at Bowdoin College. Elizabeth DeLeon (18:44.04) won the 5,000, while Mia Barnes (42:03.10) won the 10,000 for the Lyons.

Tufts Sunshine Invitational — Victoria Hensley (59.15 seconds) won the 400 for AC, Saturday.

Men’s track

Larry Ellis Invitational — UMass’ 4×100 relay team of Connor Williams, Deon Arneaud, Cory Adelson, and Youssef Elkorchi placed 11th Saturday at Princeton University.

Tufts Sunshine Invitational — Kristian Sogaard won the 1,500 meter (4:01.17) for fourth-place Amherst Saturday.

Amherst Regional graduate James Traester was second in the 1,500 (4:02.74) for Tufts.

Tufts alum Matt Lacey (Amherst) won the 5,000 (15:47.62).
