Other than the first seven minutes of the second half, the South Hadley field hockey team kept pace with Northampton on Wednesday at home.
Those seven minutes, however, produced three goals and a 3-0 win for the Blue Devils.
“They were quick, quick, quick, as we expect Northampton to be,” South Hadley coach Tara Cole said.
Megan McCarthy provided two of the goals, while Marissa Badorini scored one.
Anna Kerwood dished out two assists for Northampton (4-1, 3-0 Central), while Hannah Sledzieski had the third.
Danielle Parent made six saves in the blue Devil net.
Brittany Cote stopped 15 shots for South Hadley (2-1-1, 1-1-1 Central).
“We certainly look forward to playing them again,” Cole said.
Hopkins Academy 10, Ware 0 — Uan O’Brien had six assists as Golden Hawks took an 8-0 halftime lead and cruised in Hadley.
Dougie Pierce had three goals for Hopkins (2-3-1), while Adam Yahman (two assists), John Earle (two goals), Gage Spankneble (two goals) and Vance Cannella (goal, assist) were all in the multiple point club.
Sam Mackin and Ben Andersen each scored a goal and Brandon Munson added an assist in front of Jack Feltovic and Eric Berg, who each made a save in their respective half in goal.
Renaissance 1, Smith Academy 0 — The Phoenix scored 15 minutes into the game, and the Falcons could never pull even.
Jack Hession made eight saves for Smith (1-3, 1-3 McGrath South).
Belchertown 3, Northampton 0 — After a scoreless first half, the Orioles scored three times to pull away.
Alex Szarkowski, Jarod Bolten and Ethan Lafleur each scored for Orioles, while Nolan Vogel, Evan Fournier and Sean O’Neill had an assist apiece.
Ian Hutchins made nine saves for Hamp, while Tanner Clark and Sean McCarthy each stopped four shots for Belchertown (4-3).
Palmer 4, Gateway 0 — The Gators fell behind early and couldn’t get back in the game in a home loss.
Matt Remillard had threegoals for the Panthers.
Shane Mastello made six saves for the Gators (3-3-1).
Franky Tangredi and Joe Coon had strong games defensively for Gateway.
Granby 3, Palmer 0 — Summer Molin, Caroline Cyr and Nora Young each had a goal in the Rams’ road win.
Young added an assist.
Brooklyn Baran made two saves in net for Granby (4-2)
Commerce 3, Smith Voke 0 — The Vikings took a loss at home, but did get a good match from Cassandra Paradee, who had seven digs, six aces and five kills.
Stephanie Start added three blocks, seven digs and four kills for the Vikings (0-7).
Set scores were 25-10, 25-9 and 25-19.
Chicopee 3, Belchertown 1 — The Orioles prevailed in the first set but couldn’t close out their league rival.
Cara McKenzie had 19 kills for the Orioles while Allie Lukas added 14 assists.
Belchertown (6-1, 1-1 Southern) fell 22-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-18.
