Put fight for freedom atop news agenda

Jeffrey Good’s explanation why the Dec. 19 event at JFK Middle School was not covered (“Community coverage in Trump Era,” Dec. 28) relies too heavily on quantitative issues – that is, limited staff numbers and missing a large turnout.

This misses the breadth and depth of the sense of desperation for the future of our country and our values which made people want and need to come together in shared community to push back against a sense of isolation in the face of a threat to the quality of our lives.

So a fight for freedom should have moved this coverage to the top of the day’s news agenda.
