I am writing to thank Daniel Brown for his excellent column in the Dec. 13 Recorder [“Myths and facts about Israel, Palestine”].  Too seldom people are willing to dig beneath the surface of current events to unearth the complexities that surround them; too often we succumb to the temptation to see events as black and white.  We need to acknowledge that each of us comes from a perspective influenced by various factors and than no one of us has a monopoly on the right perspective.  We need to learn to respect each other’s vantage point and, above all, talk with each other with the intent of truly listening.  In a world where there seems to be an ever increasing amount of divisiveness, let each of us strive to be a voice for unity and compassion.
