HADLEY, MA – Sally Jane Mahoney Glidden passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026, at the age of 76, after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer and myelodysplastic syndrome.
Born in Waltham, she was the daughter of Vernon E. Glidden and Mabel (Hicks) McPhail. Sally graduated from Waltham High School and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She lived in Whitinsville and Douglas, where she raised her family, and later in Hadley. She also spent several years living in Hilton Head, SC, working in nearby Savannah, GA, before returning to Hadley, where she remained for the rest of her life.
Sally worked for many years as a medical assistant at Douglas Primary Care, UMass Memorial Medical Center, Hampshire OB-GYN in Hadley, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and a medical practice in Savannah, GA. She was deeply trusted by patients, physicians, and colleagues alike, and formed lasting friendships with those she worked alongside. Her authenticity and genuine nature put people at ease. She was sincere, honest, and cared deeply about others.
Sally was a free spirit who loved people, books, and especially movies. She was also a devoted dog lover and leaves behind her beloved three-legged rescue dog, Noel Grace.
Her greatest pride was her family. She is survived by her daughter, Coreylee Feltovic and her husband Steve of Hadley; her daughter, Rebeccalyn Wanczyk and her husband Michael of Hadley; and her son, Tucker Mahoney and his wife Laurie of Holden. Her grandchildren were the greatest source of joy in her life: Jack, Matt, Anna, Evelyn, Avery, Welles, Michael, and Grant. She is also survived by her brother, David Glidden, and her niece, Jill Glidden.
Private family services will be held.
In honor of Sally’s love of dogs, donations may be made in her memory to a local animal shelter or dog rescue organization.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
