Nancy (Palmer) Grant

HAYDENVILLE, MA – Nancy Palmer Grant, 91, of Haydenville, MA, died peacefully in her sleep on the first day of Spring, March 21, 2026.

Nancy exuded a living faith, sharing generously with family, friends, and strangers alike-known for her “edible craft” of hearty meals and homemade pies. Raised in Weston, MA, she graduated from Mt. Holyoke College in 1956 and taught children in underserved communities. Her husband Bob, an ordained United Methodist minister, accepted a series of appointments in the Greater New Jersey area-including urban ministry in Paterson during the 1970s-each one a shared decision, moving every few years as the bishop directed. For Nancy, animals were fellow creatures-from the goats of her childhood to the singing finches and canaries whose songs filled their parsonages.

She is survived by her three children, Bob, Andrew, and Anita, and their families.

A Celebration of her Life will be held at the Northampton Elks Lodge, 17 Spring St., Florence on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. Gifts in lieu of flowers may be given to Grace United (graceunited.church) or a charity of your choice.
