I read the March 23 article on Bob Labrie stepping away from his daily sunrise posts, and felt compelled to add a small note of thanks.

The photographs, of course, have been remarkable. They’ve given many of us a view we might otherwise miss, especially on mornings when staying snug in bed was definitely the preferred option. But what has stayed with me just as much is the writing that accompanied those photos.

His words sketched out the whole morning — the sounds, the cold, the rhythm of the woods around him. Woodpeckers tapping away, snow crunching underfoot, eyelashes freezing up along the way. Across the seasons, he gave us the changing forest too — the heat of summer, the slow return of spring, the frigid edge of February mornings.

I will miss the photos and the stories, but I thank Mr. Labrie for the six years of sunrise and wish him long lazy mornings ahead.
