WINDSOR, Connecticut — Connecticut state troopers are seeking witnesses to a motorcycle crash that killed Northampton resident Juan Miguel Martinez, 26, on Interstate 91 in Windsor Monday evening.
Martinez, riding a Ducati Streetfighter motorcycle, allegedly struck a 2019 Toyota Tacoma on its left rear while both vehicles travelled north on I-91 near exits 39 and 41 at about 8:28 p.m., according to an accident report written by trooper John Wilson.
In the report, Wilson wrote that Martinez was riding in the right lane of the four-lane highway, while the pickup truck was driving in the right center lane.
Wilson wrote that while the Tacoma driver “made no complaints of pain,” and refused medical treatment, Martinez was ejected from the motorcycle after the crash and “sustained serious injuries.”
“For an unknown reason, [the motorcycle] impacted [the truck] on the left side of its rear end,” Wilson wrote. “[Martinez] was separated from [the motorcycle] following this impact.”
This incident remains under investigation. Wilson asked those who witnessed the collision, or have dash camera footage of the stretch of highway from the time the crash occurred contact him at john.wilson@ct.gov.
