Hatfield, MA – Roberta J. (Zack) Slysz, 84, of Hatfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday September 13th at Cooley Dickinson Hospital with her family by her side, after a brief illness. She was born in Northampton on January 24, 1942, to the late John and Helen (Jablonski) Zack.
Roberta attended Hatfield schools and graduated from Smith Academy before continuing her education at UMass. She worked as an accountant for many years, first at Cooley Dickinson Hospital and later at the Hampshire Council of Government, before retiring.
Roberta was an avid gardener and enjoyed crafting. A devoted communicant of Our Lady of Grace in Hatfield, and the former Holy Trinity Church, Roberta was also a member of the Holy Name Rosary Society. Her faith was a central part of her life.
She is survived by her daughters, Annette St. Hilaire and her husband Bruce of Hatfield, Melissa Walsh and her husband Jeffrey of Northampton, daughter-in-law Bonnie Slysz of Tennessee, her grandchildren, Jennifer, Samantha, Bruce Jr., Ryan, Danielle, Jason and his wife Anne, Michelle and her husband Amedeo, and Tyler and his wife Casey, 13 great-grandchildren, her sisters, Constance Zack and Mary May, several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Stanley “Slug” Slysz Jr., and her son Stanley Slysz III.
Calling hours will be Thursday September 17, 2026, from 4-6 PM at the DROZDAL FUNERAL HOME, 120 Damon Rd., Northampton. Funeral will be on Friday September 18, 2026, in the Funeral Home at 8:30 AM followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Church at 10 AM. Burial will immediately follow in Calvary Cemetery, Hatfield.
