The 10th annual SuperHero Run & Fall Fair, hosted by Cutchins Programs, is set for Sunday, Oct. 4 in Northampton and the window to register is closing soon.
Three races will take place including a professionally timed 10K road race, a 5k race/walk as well as a free kids’ fun run.
Following the conclusion of the races, the fall fair will feature activities such as face painting and family games with the accompaniment of food trucks and live music.

Golf
The 78th Annual Rollie Jacobs Western Mass. Tee Party Celebration is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 1 at Northampton Country Club.
Scott Coen, a local media personality for WGCB Channel 40, is this year’s honoree. The event was originally supposed to take place in May, but was rained out.
A shotgun scramble tournament, that will feature five-person teams, will begin at 12:30 p.m. Gross and net prizes will be awarded.
Costs range from $40 for the banquet only, to $120 per player, which includes golf, dinner and banquet.
UMass field hockey
The undefeated and sixth-ranked UMass field hockey team (7-0; 0-1) proved revenge is a dish best served from overseas on Friday by shutting out Ohio (2-4; 0-1) 6-0 in front of 157 fans at Gladchuk Field.
All six goals were scored by players from foreign shores. South Africa’s Amber Fairon scored twice and countrywoman Kristy Leonard added a single tally. Munich’s Lina Kroeger and New Zealand’s Niamh McKenzie also scored. Goalkeeper Rozarie Mrazoa of the Czech Republic preserved the shutout with three saves.
In 2025, Ohio accounted for UMass’s only blemish in the Mid-American Conference, beating the Minutewomen, 1-0, at Pruitt Field in Athens.
On Sunday, coach Barb Weinstein’s foreign legion visits the Albany, which is 3-2 at this writing but had lost two straight including a 9-1 drubbing at No. 19 Yale. The conference schedule will resume on Friday at home against Kent State.
