John Paradis’ column in the Gazette May 13 was a reminder to all of us of the sacrifice that Ken Johnson and his family made for us.
Ken and other men were so very young when they left Florence to serve in the Vietnam War. Reading the column reminded me of the terrible sadness that transcended Ken’s family when he was lost to them so tragically.
I sincerely hope that it brings his family some level of comfort to know that many of us still remember him and that we will always be grateful for the sacrifice he made for us.
Since we’re recently honored lost veterans, I hope that local families will share the story of this brave soldier, so that our future can be one without wars and loss.
