Matt York hit a double in the top of the 10th inning to secure a win Thursday for the Hampshire Regional baseball team.
Brandon Weyant and Noah Batchelder came around to score, and the Red Raiders beat Sabis 10-8 in Springfield.
York finished with three hits and those two RBIs for Hampshire (4-1).
Steve Moussette also had three hits, while Garrett Kowal drove in three runs on his two hits.
“Big day for him,” Hampshire coach Bob Dombkowski said.
Weyant pitched the last five innings for Hampshire and struck out seven.
Commerce 6, Smith Vocational 0 — A complete game shutout by Wilson Rosa silenced the Vikings’ bats.
Matt Hewes was able to string together a couple of hits for the Vikings (3-6, 3-4 Tri-County) and was the only one to have a multi-hit game. He had two walks to go along with the two hits.
Kevin Wackerbarth six runs and 10 hits in his seven innings of work. He struck out four.
Northampton 4, Chicopee 3 — Tim Horton hit two RBI singles, as the Blue Devils’ early lead held up at home.
Andy Grygorcewicz struck out three and received assistance in center field from Hector DeJesus, who had seven putouts for the Blue Devils (5-2, 3-1 Valley Wheel).
Belchertown 8, Easthampton 4 — A five run sixth inning gave the Orioles a lead that they held.
The Eagles (3-3) took a 4-3 lead in the top of the fifth and the Orioles (5-2) responded by plating five in the bottom of the sixth.
Jonathan Ingram and Jason French both went 2-for-3. Ingram scored two runs while French scored one. Both scored in the five run sixth inning.
Hunter Leveille scored two runs for the Eagles and was 2-for-3.
Minnechaug 10, Amherst 2 — Seth Bella-Hunter made it through 2 1/3 innings before being replaced by Stephen McCudden.
Bella-Hunter gave up four runs on four hits while striking out two. McCudden pitched the remaing 3 2/3 innings. He allowed six runs on seven hits while also only managing to strike out two for the Hurricanes (2-4, 0-2 Valley League).
Jason Papakonstantinou and John Bella-Hunter provided the only offense for the ‘Canes. Papakonstantinou was 2-for-3 with a run scored while John Bella-Hunter got one hit and drove in a run.
Easthampton 17, Gateway 3 — Six RBIs from Sydney Slattery lead the Eagles to a dominating win.
The senior went 3-for-4 and scored two runs. Gabby Downer had four runs scored for the Eagles (5-3, 5-1 Bi-County West).
The Gators’ defense did them no favors by committing 10 errors. Audrey Gamble did her best at plate going 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Sabis 17, Smith Academy 7 — Ashley Higgins went 3-for-4, scored three runs and drove in two RBI’s for the Falcons.
Six errors hurt the Falcons (1-6, 1-4 Bi-County West), Thursday. To go along with the errors Sabis strung together 12 hits and managed to score a run in every inning. Vanessa Skwaski was credited with the loss.
Turners Falls 17, Hopkins 5 (5) — Caroline Cristoforo Kelsea Cristoforo, Greta Kurtz and Bridget Lashway drove in runs for the Golden Hawks (1-5, 1-1 Franlin).
Minnechaug 10, South Hadley 2 — Ari Williams went 2-for-3 and scored one of the Tiger’s two runs.
The only scoring for the Tigers (3-5) came in the second inning when they scored two runs; along with Williams, Abby Edge scored a run.
Nicole Niemiec pitched six innings giving up 13 hits and 10 runs.
Frontier 10, Mohawk 0 — The Red Hawks (3-4) got a stellar performance in the circle from Lauren MacDonald, who struck out 11 in a shutout.
Lexa Boyden had a hit and three RBIs while Hannah Adams contributed with three hits.
St. John’s 13, South Hadley 4 – Griffin Fitzell scored two goals and had an assist for the Tigers.
Hunter Borowski and Marcus Larrier added the other two goals for the Tigers (2-5). Corey Calkins made eigth saves in net.
The Tigers only managed to score four goals on 22 shots.
East Longmeadow 18, Belchertown 7 – Ben Magarian scored four goals and two assists in a home loss.
Grant Irving, Christian Assimus and Jack Medina also scored for Belchertown (3-3).
Ryan McCarthy made two saves in the first quarter before injury forced him out of the game.
Aaron Almeda took over and made 10 saves over the final three quarters.
East Longmeadow 13, South Hadley 7 – Marley Medina scored five goals for the Tigers, making up a majority of their offense.
Emma Slysz had two goals and one assist while Briana Couture had two assists for the Tigers (2-5).
Hanna Kopec finished with 13 saves in net.
Agawam 8, Northampton 7 — Bridget Harrington made 13 saves and Abby Baldwin scored four times, but the Blue Devils lost for the first time this season (7-1).
Megan McCarthy added two goals and two assists for Northampton.
