Crews from the water, sewer and highway divisions of the Easthampton Department of Public Works were busy Tuesday sourcing and repairing a water main break on Union Street between School and High streets. At the scene, DPW Director Greg Nuttelman said they were able to maintain water service to Union Street businesses during the search for the leak, although traffic on Route 141 had to be detoured onto Main Street and Payson Avenue.

Cynthia Tian, 12, and her father, Yong Tian, of Amherst ended their 50-meter sprint in a virtual tie as they took advantage of an empty Lot 22 at the University of Massachusetts Amherst on Friday afternoon. Cynthia, a seventh grader at the Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter School, swims butterfly for the Amherst Tritons, so the two figured a little cross training might be wise before the team’s upcoming meet at Belchertown.
