The National Weather Service is predicting between 1 to 3 inches to fall in the Valley between midnight and 9 a.m. Monday, the second day of spring.

But meteorologist Alan Dunham does not think the snow will spend much time on the ground. He said by Monday afternoon high temperatures will be in the mid 40s. Tuesday and Wednesday will have similar temperatures and sunshine, he said.

“Whatever snow falls will not be lasting long,” he said.

Hampshire County will avoid the fate of southern Plymouth and Bristol counties, which are forecast to receive between eight and 10 inches, according to Dunham.
