A hacker once convicted of stealing personal data from 120,000 iPad users, including former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, has said he was the one who sent anti-Semitic fliers to numerous printers and fax machines on the University of Massachusetts Amherst campus, along with a dozen other colleges.
NJ.com reported Monday that Andrew โWeevโ Auernheimer, who now lives in the partially recognized Black Sea country of Abkhazia, told the news organization in a Twitter chat Monday that he targeted the printers.
The initial fliers were part of an estimated 20,000 sent to network-connected printers and fax machines on various college and university campuses nationwide. Locally, in addition to UMass, the offending fliers were received at Mount Holyoke and Smith colleges.
