NORTHAMPTON — What began as one arrest turned into two early Saturday morning during a traffic stop on Flynn Street, when the vehicle’s passenger allegedly attacked an officer.
According to police, Brittany Joy Chesson — the passenger — became disorderly and struck an officer. The incident occurred at around 12:30 a.m. while police were investigating the vehicle’s driver, Hakim Jamal Stewart, who was allegedly driving with a suspended license and without a valid inspection sticker, according to police logs.
Chesson, 25, of 178 Florence Road was arrested and charged disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and assault and battery on a police officer, police said.
Stewart, 29 — who has an address listed as the streets of Amherst — was arrested and charged driving with a suspended license and operating a motor vehicle with no inspection/sticker, logs show.
