Budding UMass choreographer Brianna Anderson took some time to sort out which of her friends were lifting her up and which were dragging her down, then translated the tally into “Unfeigned Thirst,” one of seven original dance works that make up “Shifting Point,”this weekend’s performance in the UMass Emerging Choreographers Series.
Also on the program: Amanda Somma’s “Herbal Trance,” in which nine dancers investigate their strengths as women through the role of a Greek siren; “Flakes of White,” a reflection of the joyous feeling Melanie Ostiguy experiences when she wakes up to a fresh coat of snow; and “In the Room,” a collaborative duo by Kiera Cecchini and Paulina Schaefer that takes place inside someone’s brain. (“If you were to cut it in half and look inside there would be a small, dimly lit room. Two people live in this room. They may enter and exit as they wish, but what happens when they choose to stay?”)
Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Hampshire College Main Studio Theatre. $10 general; $5 students. 545-2511, fac.umass.edu
