HIS MUSE IS OTHER ART

Conceptual artist Tom Friedman, who teaches in the graduate art program at UMass Amherst, has moved across town for an exhibit at Amherst College’s Mead Museum. Using pieces from the Mead’s collection, Friedman has created his own iconic response to each — including one that uses Styrofoam, paint and tube socks to mimic an ancient Greek terracotta figurine. It’s art made with humor and imagination. Through June 26; free. amherst.edu/museums/mead
