The 19th-ranked UMass women’s lacrosse team wasted little time putting St. Bonaventure away on Friday.

The Minutewomen cruised past the Bonnies, 23-2, at Garber Field.

UMass, which led 16-1 at halftime, scored 19 straight to break a 1-1 tie.

UMass fell one goal shy of matching the program’s single-game record of 24, set against Williams in 1980.

Hannah Murphy broke the school record for draw controls in a game with 14. Murphy shared the old mark of 12 with Megan Reddy.

UMass (12-1, 5-0 Atlantic 10) extended its conference win streak to 41 games.

Hannah Burnett scored six goals, while Hannah Palau, Ashley Faulhaber and Murphy each had three goals. Ally Tolken scored the first goal of her career.

Erika Eipp had two goals and five assists.

Sam Walters (one save) and Aileen Kelly (two saves) shared time in net.

The Minutewomen outshot SBU 50-5 and won 21-of-26 draws.

Baseball

Saint Joseph’s 3, UMass 1 — Jon Avallone (run) had two hits, while Brett Evangelista, Dylan Morris (RBI), Mike Hart, John Jennings and Vinny Scifo each had one hit for the Minutemen (7-15, 2-5 Atlantic 10).

Brandon Walsh struck out seven, walked three and allowed three hits in 3 innings of relief.

Softball

WPI 4, Smith 2; WPI 9, Smith 1 (6) — Tori Brown had three hits, an RBI and run scored over both games but the Pioneers (8-16, 5-7 NEWMAC) were swept in Worcester.

Men’s tennis

Amherst 6, MIT 3 — Amherst (13-5) won two of three doubles matches and needed three sets to win three of their singles matches at home.
