FLORENCE — A car struck a pedestrian crossing Main Street in Florence shortly before 3 p.m. Friday.
The name of the pedestrian, a man who was transported to Cooley Dickinson Hospital, was not immediately available. Police at the scene could not comment on the extent of his injuries.
The victim ran out into Main Street near the Cumberland Farms, not using a crosswalk, and was struck by a dark-colored Chevrolet Cavalier, Northampton Police officer Michael Szawlowski said.
The driver, a young woman, appeared shaken up and declined to comment. She would not give her name.
The car was towed from the scene. Its passenger-side windshield was shattered.
