The 19th-ranked UMass women’s lacrosse team surged past La Salle, 19-6, Sunday at Garber Field.

Trailing 3-1, the Minutewomen scored nine straight to take command of the Atlantic 10 game.

Hannah Burnett had four goals for UMass (13-1, 6-0 A-10), which won its 42nd straight conference game, as well as its 21st straight game at home.

Erika Eipp had three goals and three assists, while Eileen McDonald and Holly Turner each had three goals.

Sam Walters (five saves) and Aileen Kelly (four) split time in net.

MIT 20, Mount Holyoke 10 — Charlotte Wagner scored six goals, while Julia Bell added two, including the 200th of her career, but the visiting Lyons (2-9, 1-5 NEWMAC) fell Saturday.

Elms 18, Becker 17 (OT) — Jackie Soucia (Belchertown) had five goals and one assist as the Blazers (6-7, 2-2 NECC) won on the road Saturday.

Amherst 7, Tufts 6 — Julia Crerend scored with 7 seconds left to give seventh-ranked Amherst (9-2, 6-2 NESCAC) the win Saturday.

Emerson 19, Simmons 7 — Missie Maiewski (Northampton) scored but the Sharks (5-7) fell Saturday.

Babson 16, Smith 3 — Julia Hamilton scored twice and Ray Silveria added one goal but the Pioneers (4-9, 0-5 NEWMAC) fell at home Saturday.

Men’s lacrosse

Fairfield 8, UMass 6 — The Minutemen (4-7, 0-3 CAA) trailed 4-1 at halftime and 7-2 in the third quarter en route to the road loss Saturday.

Tyler Bogart, Ben Spencer and Dan Muller scored three straight as UMass pulled with 7-5 in the fourth, but the early deficit was too much to overcome.

Buddy Car finished with two goals and two assists in defeat.

Tufts 16, Amherst 11 — Quinn Moroney and Evan Wolf each scored twice for AC (10-3, 6-2 NESCAC) in the road loss Saturday.

Baseball

Clark 11, Springfield 6 — Designated hitter Zach Kelley (Hadley) went 1 for 2 with an RBI as the Cougars (15-18, 5-8 NEWMAC) won at home Saturday.

Salve Regina 11, Amherst 6; Castleton 11, Amherst 6 — Yanni Thanopoulos and Ariel Kenney each had two hits for AC (16-5) in the road loss to Salve Regina Saturday.

Max Steinhorn, Thanopoulos and Harry Roberson each had two hits in the loss to Castleton on Sunday.

Saint Joseph’s 6, UMass 1; Saint Joseph’s 17, UMass 7 — John Jennings (three RBIs, two runs) was 5 for 8, while Mike Geannelis (two RBIs) was 4 for 7 but the Minutemen (7-17, 2-7 Atlantic 10) dropped a pair at home this weekend.

Softball

UMass 6, St. Bonaventure 1; St. Bonaventure 5, UMass 2; UMass 5, St. Bonaventure 4 (9) — Erin Stacevicz (three runs) was 8 for 13 out of the leadoff spot and Jena Cozza (five runs, two RBIs) was 7 for 11 with a home run in the No. 2 spot as the Minutewomen (14-21, 8-5 Atlantic 10) took 2 of 3 over the weekend in New York.

Amherst 7, Bates 4; Amherst 8, Bates 0 (5) — Annie Apffel went 3 for 4 with two homers in Game One, while Alena Marovitz was 1 for 2 with a two-run homer in Game Two as AC (16-5, 4-1 NESCAC) swept Saturday.

Smith 8, Emerson 0 (5); Emerson 2, Smith 1 — Allison Snyder went 4 for 6 with two runs and two RBIs, while Alyssa Pioggia was 4 for 6 with two RBIs and a run as the Pioneers (9-17) split at home Saturday.

Women’s track

Minuteman Invitational — UMass placed first out of eight teams with 203 points Saturday.

Kelsey Crawford (shot put, javelin), Emilie Cowan (400, 200) and the 4×400 relay placed first for the Minutewomen.

Nicky Roberts won the 5,000 for Amherst College, which was sixth.

Springfield College Invitational — The 4×100 relay of Destiny Williams, Zahkeyah Allen, Maria Lewis and Camille Coklow placed second as Mount Holyoke finished fourth among four team Saturday.

Silfen Invitational — Zoe Rubinstein (pole vault) and Katie McClellan (javelin) won their events as Smith College placed ninth out of 10 teams at Connecticut College Saturday.

Men’s track

Minutemen Invitational — UMass placed first out of eight teams with 194 points Saturday.

Jay McMahon (steeplechase), Stephen Ness (1,500), John Chuma (pole vault), Deion Arneaud (long jump) and Evan Burton (discus) each won individual events for UMass.

Jeff Seelaus was second in the 1,500 for Amherst College, which placed sixth.

Jerry Gravel Classic — Jeremy Forgue (Belchertown) won the 400 hurdles (55.71 seconds) for Westfield State Saturday.

Women’s Tennis

Mount Holyoke 6, Endicott 3 — Michelle Cai won 7-5, 6-3 over Maxine Bergstein to seal the win for the Lyons (14-9) in their season finale.

Endicott 8, Smith 1; Nichols 5, Smith 4 – Samantha Peikes won both of her singles matches but the Pioneers (4-16) fell twice this weekend.

UMass 6, Fordham 1 — The Minutewomen (14-6, 3-0 Atlantic 10) took three three-set matches to win their ninth straight match and close the regular season Sunday.

Women’s golf

Jack Leaman Invitational — Jamie Gracie (76-69—145) earned medalist honors with a second-round 5-under 69 as Amherst won the championship, Sunday at Hickory Ridge Golf Club.

June Conti (81-79—160) was third for Mount Holyoke.
