One guest allegedly punched another at the Craig’s Place homeless shelter, 434 North Pleasant St., in an incident reported to police at 6:17 a.m. Wednesday. The reported assault is under investigation.
Police are investigating a break reported at a residence at Townehouse Apartments, 50 Meadow St., at 2:59 a.m. Wednesday. Police said no suspects were found and nothing was stolen.
A 37 year-old Florence man will be summoned to court on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended or revoked license and not having his vehicle registration in his possession after a traffic stop on Holyoke Street at 1:21 a.m. Wednesday.
Northampton police and fire departments responded at 6:18 p.m. Tuesday to a fire at a home on Sovereign Way. Homeowners were grilling when siding on the back of the house caught fire. Detectives said the wind likely picked up embers from the grill that made contact with the siding. A portion of the home’s back exterior was charred. No injuries were reported.
Christopher L. Johnson, 34, who lists his address as the streets of Amherst, was arrested at 1:17 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant issued by Northampton District Court for a charge of shoplifting. An officer recognized Johnson when he saw him panhandling near Mount Tom Road and Interstate 91.
