The Smith Vocational softball team scored four touchdowns in Friday’s win at Commerce.

In a shortened game, the Vikings beat the Red Raiders 28-1.

The Vikings (5-2, 4-1 Tri-County) have scored over 20 runs three times this season, including 42 against Sci. Tech earlier this month.

Ally Kowalczyk got the bats going early, hitting a first-inning grand slam, and Maddy Atkinson went 4-for-5 and scored three runs for Smith Voke.

Stephanie Start picked up the win in the circle for the Vikings with nine strikeouts and five walks but also had four hits, two triples and three RBIs.

Agawam 14, Amherst 0 — Adele Cousland had the Hurricanes’ lone hit, while Alyia Bartman struck out ten on the mound for Amherst (0-7, 0-4 Valley).

Central 18, Gateway 4 (5) — Ava Auclair, Gabby Dame and Erike Wolfe had hits in a road loss for the Gators (1-3).

Granby 13, Ware 1 (5 innings) — Abi Beauregard pitched five innings, struck out 10 and gave up only one hit in a road win for the Rams.

Beauregard added a two-run double at the plate for Granby (2-5).

Kate Sullivan went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and four runs scored.

Northampton 19, Athol 0 (5 innings) — Anna Kerwood didn’t give up a run and struck out six in a road win for the Blue Devils.

Marissa Badrini went 2-for-3 for Northampton (4-2), while Zoe Driscoll-Sbar drilled a solo-homer in the first inning.

Abby Pelis had two hits and three RBIs, and Anna Connly went 3-for-3 with two RBIs.

South Hadley 4, Chicopee 3 – Two RBI’s from Nicole Conner help push the Tigers over Pacers in extra innings.

Conner was 2-for-4 and scored a run. Nicole Niemiec went the distance only giving up five hits and three runs while striking out five for the Tigers (3-4).

Baseball

Frontier 8, Maynard 2 — Brandon Bryant hit two triples and drove in a run in a road win.

“Two absolute bombs to the right-center gap,” Frontier coach Chris Williams said.

Noah Barnes went 2-for-3 and stole four bases, swiping second and third both times he reached base for the Red Hawks (6-0).

South Hadley 11, Holyoke 3 – The senior bats led the charge for the Tigers, as James Foley and Mario Oliveira each had two hits and two RBI’s. Teddy Doyle also knocked in two runs on two hits, one of which an RBI triple.

Starter Alex Dragon went six innings, allowing one earned run with two strikeouts. He also had two hits of his own.

Smith Voke 7, Franklin Tech 0 — Kevin Wackerbarth allowed one hit in his shutout for the Vikings.

Along with Wackerbarth’s performance on the mound, the Vikings’ (3-4, 3-2 Tri-County) Stone Mitchell went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Six different players hit for the Vikings.

Northampton 16, Easthampton 7 — Andrew Serio led the offensive charge for the Blue Devils, going 4-for-5 with four RBIs in the road win.

Ian McNamara had two hits for Northampton (3-2).

For the Eagles, Brandon Bennett mashed a two-run homer in the first inning.

Hunter Leveille added two hits for Easthampton (2-2).

Belchertown 14, Westfield Tech 3 – Jackson Dziel was one of many Orioles to get hits and score runs Friday.

Dziel went 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Jack Kamins scored three runs for the Orioles (2-2), one in each of the first three innings.

Boys Lacrosse

Granby 10, St. Mary’s 6 — Nick Roberts led all goal scorers, netting four, while Tre Demers and Collin Stearns each provided two goals and an assist for Granby (2-3, 1-1 Suburban).

Drew Weisel and Bailey Ortensi also pitched in, as each produced a goal and two assists. Nick Albers had nine saves in net for the Rams.

Girls Lacrosse

Wahconah 10, Belchertown 7 — The Orioles could not keep up with the Warriors in the second half, getting outscored 4-1.

They were knotted at six heading into halftime.

Abby Robinson and Morgan Mathurin each scored two goals for the Orioles (2-3).

The Orioles only managed one goal in the second half. That one goal helped tie it up at seven. The Warriors (5-0) were able to tack on three more to secure the win.

East Longmeadow 11, Amherst 1 – Jane O’Connell had the lone goal for the Hurricanes on an assist from Meghan Sharick. Senior Savannah Robinson had 9 saves in net for Amherst (1-4, 0-3 Valley).

Boys Volleyball

Ludlow 3, Belchertown 1 — The Orioles were only able to come away with a victory in one of the four sets, losing .

Anthony Hosmer had 18 kills, while Drew Duquette had 16 assists. Hosmer had eight digs, and Duquette and Mitchell Bolton both had five for the Orioles (2-5)
