College-age people with a sign reading “you honk, we drink” set up on Pine Street at 6:38 p.m. Monday were advised to remove the sign, which they did.

Lenno A. Carter, 40, of Bronx, New York, was arrested at 8:03 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Amity and North Pleasant streets on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs, negligent operation of a motor vehicle to endanger and causing child endangerment while under the influence. 

Easthampton

Police responded to a report of two people fighting at the entrance of the Manhan Rail Trail near Millside Park at 5:16 p.m. Saturday. Police were unable to find the people.

The owner of Union Mart on Cottage Street called police at 3:37 p.m. Friday to report that a 12-year-old boy had been injured in a fight on the playground of the nearby Maple Elementary School.

Police said the boy had fought with another 12-year-old Friday, which was a half day for White Brook Middle School, where the two boys are students. The boy sustained a minor cut on his face and was treated on-site by medics. Police said no charges will be filed against either boy.

Northampton

Anthony T. Barfield, 31, of Springfield, was arrested about 6:20 p.m. Monday on a charge of shoplifting after staff at Stop & Shop, 228 King St., observed him attempt to conceal six cans of Red Bull and 35 BIC lighters, police said. Barfield was detained in the store by security and arrested by police. The items totaled about $116, police said.

Kevin Alexander Rosa, 19, of 24 Crestview Drive, Florence, was arrested at 2:36 a.m. Sunday on Brookwood Drive on charges of operating while under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident causing property damage.

Police responded to a call for a single-vehicle accident and found a black Honda Civic which appeared to have crashed into a tree on Brookwood Drive. A nearby street sign was also damaged, police said. Officers observed a trail of car fluid and debris leading to a white Lexus with heavy front-end damage on Crestview Drive. Police said Sunday it did not appear the two vehicles collided with each other, but they both crashed in the same area. There was no further information available  on the operator of the Honda Civic.

Marco Basile, 23, of East Longmeadow, was arrested outside the Platform Sports Bar on Pleasant Street early Saturday after police said he got into a fight and smashed a car windshield. Police said that because alcohol was involved, officers received several different stories about the incident which occurred at 1:28 a.m. According to police accounts, it appears the fight broke out after Basile got involved in a conversation between his sister and the alleged victim. Police said Basile faces charges of malicious damage to a motor vehicle, assault and battery and disorderly conduct.

Jose I. Feliciano, 37, of Holyoke, was arrested at 4:54 p.m. May 4 at the Tart Baking Co., 192 Main St. He faces charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, destruction of property worth more than $250 and disorderly conduct after throwing hot coffee at a store employee and shattering glass display jars when he was told there is no public rest room, police said. 

Rani M. Patel, 30, of Florence, was arrested for shoplifting at 10:42 a.m. May 4 when police responded to the Big Y supermarket, 136 N. King St. Store staff told police they observed Patel conceal about $65 worth of groceries and try to walk out of the store without paying for them.
